Sydney University Women's Water Polo Club is pleased to announce that Debbie Watson has been appointed Coach of the Lions L1 and National League team for season 2017-18.

Debbie is Australia’s most decorated Water Polo player, male or female. She culminated an illustrious career earning the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Debbie was also part of the gold medal winning Australian teams at the 1986 World Championships and the 1984 FINA World Cup. In 2006, she became the first female Water Polo player to be inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame and in 2008 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. Debbie has always played for Sydney Uni and was co-coach for the Lion’s inaugural 2016 National League championship as well as the club's history breaking undefeated National League title in 2017.

Debbie has a huge amount of Water Polo knowledge and she looks forward to the club's full support throughout what promises to be a challenging and exciting campaign.
